Schools, Colleges and Universities throughout the UK must, like all others, comply with the WEEE directive and ensure that the disposal of their electrical equipment is done so in a safe, secure and environmentally sensitive way. It is a legal requirement that organisations receive a WEEE disposal certificate for every item that they wish to dispose of to ensure that it does not enter the UK landfill waste cycle. There are many companies that offer this service to individuals, educational establishments, and businesses free-of-charge that also profit from the reselling of this equipment, however at Parkertron IT Recycling, we aim to do things a little differently.
With our background in school leadership and the supporting of IT services in schools throughout the past 10 years, we have seen first-hand just how far a school’s IT budget is expected to stretch over the academic year. Rather than just handing over your old redundant computer equipment, monitors, hard drives, laptops, printers and servers to a third-party to extract any value that they may have for themselves, we instead believe that a rebate should be returned to you so that it can be spent on nice new IT replacement equipment.
How our IT Recycling Service works…
Parkertron IT Recycling offers free collections and processing for all collections (a minimum collection of 20 items applies) from educational establishments. Our team of qualified, DBS-checked and insured technicians will arrive on-site to personally collect your unwanted items, before transporting them back to our certified processing plant to be asset listed and tested. All equipment is graded, before a decision about how to generate the most value possible from it is agreed upon and all data destroyed. Some equipment may be refurbished for resale, whilst others will be dismantled into their component parts for recycling. We even have close links to charities and schools in Africa, India, Pakistan and the Republic of Ireland should you wish to donate your redundant equipment instead. Once sold or recycled, you will receive a WEEE disposal certificate with itemised details of the equipment that we have processed, along with a cheque for any rebate that we have achieved.
1. SERVICE COLLECTION
We are happy to arrange the collection of your redundant equipment at any convenient time for you. Our technicians work throughout the school holidays, at weekends, and outside of school opening hours. Often we liaise directly with the school premises/ site manager to arrange a suitable date and time for our technicians to arrive on site.
2. ONSITE SERVICES
Our technicians are happy to collect redundant equipment from storage or directly from classrooms/ IT suites in partnership with installers/ school staff. We will safely remove equipment before leaving the site clean and clear for when your new equipment arrives.
3. DATA ERASURE (NON-DESTRUCTIVE)
We offer two levels of total data erasure using NCSC approved options such as Blancco, White Canyon or Certus. Each data erasure option comes with a certificate of data destruction as standard. Our service is approved to the ISO 27001 Data Security Standard with all of our staff security vetted to BS7858.
4. DATA DESTRUCTION (PHYSICAL DESTRUCTION)
We also offer complete data destruction should you not wish these components of your devices to re-enter the market place following data erasure. We shred all types and volumes of data bearing devices to your specified particle size (6mm – 42mm), and provide a data destruction certificate upon completion. Parkertron IT Recycling are certified to BS EN 15713 Secure Destruction and ISO 27001 Data Security.
5. REPORTING
We will send through a comprehensive list of equipment processed by us with itemised details outlined on a WEEE Disposal Certificate. We will then send you a percentage of any profits made through the sale of your equipment to your nominated bank or by cheque.
